The purchase price at the orchard this week has been fluctuating, with the reported price of grade A Cavendish bananas at orchards in Dong Nai ranging within a wide range of approximately 13,000 – 15,000 VND/kg. Due to many orchards holding back goods for better prices, the number of traders going to the orchards at the beginning of the week has decreased. Partly, this is because China has started its holiday season, resulting in reduced export shipments. The situation of traders pressuring orchard prices has been tightening, causing prices to drop significantly. By the end of the week, purchasing activity from the southern provinces was weaker, but traders have gradually started returning to collect orchards in preparation for orders next week as the Chinese market resumes.
